Why We Give

Give
Giving is not just a transaction. It’s a spiritual practice.

Jesus On Money

"Jesus Christ said more about money than about any other single thing because, when it comes to a man’s real nature, money is of first importance. Money is an exact index to a man’s true character. All through Scripture there is an intimate correlation between the development of a man’s character and how he handles his money."

- Richard Halverson
Jesus talks a lot about money—actually, 15% of His teachings focus on it.

Jesus understands that our attitude towards money, and how we spend it, reveals more about our character than almost anything else.

If you want to understand someone’s priorities and heart, look at how they spend their money.

Our stewardship of money and possessions becomes the story of our lives.

Jesus knows there is a direct correlation between money and our character.

Moreover, Jesus recognized that money is a heart issue and one of the most common reasons people struggle to follow Him, give up on Him, or remain disobedient.

As Martin Luther said, "There are three conversions necessary: The conversion of the heart, the conversion of the mind, and the conversion of the purse.”

Throughout the Gospel, Jesus uses money as a tool to reveal our true priorities. To Jesus, money is a rival to God that challenges our allegiance. We know this because, for many of us, the struggle to align ourselves with God's will plays out in the realm of our finances. It's where the real battle happens for so many people.

Why do we give?

"It’s impossible to be a mature disciple of Jesus, without being a mature steward of your resources."

- Randy Alcorn
The New Testament’s teaching on money has a clear goal for you: To make you into a mature steward of your resources.

Jesus and the new testament authors on multiple occasions calls us to be generous with our money.

Healthy disciples are generous with their finances, both to their local church and to people in need.

We give because of the Gospel. In the Gospel, we witness the fullness of God's generosity as He gave His own Son for our sake.

In response to this incredible act of love, we give generously, not out of obligation, but in heartfelt thankfulness.

We desire to reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father and respond to His grace by giving of all that we have.

Through our financial giving, we make a lasting impact, advancing God's Kingdom and storing up treasures in heaven.

Giving is not just an act—it’s one of the most profound ways we communicate our love and faith, and one of the greatest things we can do!

Where to start?

As a church, we believe the biblical principle of tithing serves as a key indicator for our giving.

Tithing means giving ten percent of what we earn back to God and His work.

If you are new to giving, we recommend starting where you can, whether that’s 1%, 3%, 5%, etc. Over time, you can gradually increase your giving.

Giving is a practice, like a muscle—the more you do it, the easier it becomes, and the more comfortable you will feel giving.

The goal is to turn giving into a spiritual practice.

You can make giving even easier by signing up for recurring giving.

Remember giving should be an act of worship, proportionate, voluntary, cheerful and generous.

The point is this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver
